SR. FIXED EQUIPMENT PLANT ENGINEER

Job Title:                     SR. FIXED EQUIPMENT PLANT ENGINEER
Division:                      REFINING
Location:                     MCPHERSON, KS

SUMMARY

To prepare designs and specifications related to refinery equipment process units and utility systems.  Develop solutions when equipment problems arise. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Keep abreast of new technology as relates to refining equipment.
  • Make recommendation for equipment changes that will improve refinery operations.
  • Supervise and review designs and layouts of refinery equipment.
  • Write specifications for and requisition refinery material and equipment.
  • Perform liaison work with Purchasing Department and warehouse on equipment involved in designs.
  • Review drawings, specifications and purchase orders of outside contractors.
  • Responsible for project schedules, budgets, quality of work, and compliance with NCRA's standards on projects performed by outside contractors as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
  • Confer with Maintenance Department concerning new construction and maintenance problems, designs are involved.
  • Make field inspections of new construction, and maintenance projects.
  • Confer with process engineers regarding design problems.
  • Check invoices of outside contractors.
  • Make cost estimates on new construction and maintenance work.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.)  in engineering from four-year college or university; and ten to fifteen years experience in a refinery or petrochemical plant.
